FDE applies for permissions. Transports, which exceed the rules concerning length, width and/or weight, demand permit for abnormal loads in the transit countries as well as in the recipient country.

Rules: The rules vary from country to country. Dimensions, that do not exceed the allowed in one country, could exceed the allowed in another country... In some countries the rules vary from region to region The validity of the permissions might differ from country to country – depending on the percentage excess.

Applications: The permissions, which often shall be made in the language of the application country, have to be applied at different places from country to country. This might be at the police, as in Denmark, or at other authorities, as e.g. in Germany. In countries, which are split into regions, the application shall be sent to the region, where the transport starts as a principal rule. If a transport starts or ends in the capital, a permission is needed too, as e.g. in France. FDE applies for the permits concerning abnormal loads, in order to have the permissions ready, when you need them.
